The now common “pasture-raised” chicken eggs and meat are very misleading and the FDA has done nothing to control the use of the coined words “pasture-raised” This term is meaningless because for example the chicken manufacturers and farms feed their chickens with corn and other grains which is not even organic grain. If chickens truly were only feeding out in a pasture for bugs and greens, they would not ever get big enough to kill and harvest the meat. The “pasture-raised” chickens are loaded with grains to fatten them up for slaughter just like every other non-pasture-raised chicken. The eggs are all the result of chickens being fed large amounts of grains without which the egg-laying frequency would be much smaller and the profits would be far less. Further, it is implied in the pasture-raised advertising that you are eating what the chicken has eaten, and therefore if you are trying to eat a nongrain or even a non lectin protein grain diet, this is not the case.
